Italian-North Americans — especially those of us with roots in the Mezzogiorno (and I include Frosinone and Abruzzo here) — don’t need a Genoese genocidal rapist as our hero.
It is time to recognize Columbus Day for what it is: a rubbish heap of history.
It is time for Indigenous Peoples Day.
